Su and Padma, you guys are the greatest friends ever. Thanks for the birthday wishes!
So I had a pretty good birthday yesterday. Su and I messed around on the Quidditch pitch for a while. I mean, obviously I'm no Quidditch player, I just love watching it. But we had a really good time, despite that Su can fly circles around me, star Beater that she is.
Oh, and incidentally, she just so happened to get me...
THE WEIRD SISTERS' SPECIAL CHRISTMAS RECORD!
Thanks, Su! I've been wanting to buy it for ages, but I'm almost completely broke and I've been saving all the money that I can get for everyone's Christmas gifts.
By the way, everyone, only three more days until the Ravenclaw vs. Hufflepuff game. GO RAVENCLAW!

Ouch. Brocklehursts were never meant to sew. At least, Brocklehursts whose first names begin with the letter M weren't. I've been trying to piece together my costume for the Masquerade Ball, and it's turning out, er, less than perfectly. You know all those photos you see of women sewing away, knowing exactly what to do and when to do it?
Yeah. Not so much with me.
Number of times I've pricked my thumb: 14
Number of times I've run about the common room shouting in pain: 9
Number of times someone's asked me if I'd gone funny in the head: 6

The first Quidditch of the year's coming up in a bit (well, all right, if you count November 4 as "in a bit") and I KNOW Ravenclaw's going to win. I do, I do, I do. We're so long due for a Cup win, and we've absolutely got to win it this year! Su, be sure to take care of that famous Beater arm of yours! Don't you dare put off going to the hospital wing if you hurt it again, all right?
The Masquerade Ball's coming up soon as well! I've got the most briliant costume prepared
, haven't I, Su? (Erm, not that Su knows what my costume is, professors, it's just that you see, I think Su and I know each other so well that we've, erm, got a...a...psychic connection! Right! And...on a subconscious level, she knows what I'm planning for the Ball...) I can't wait, really, it'll be dead funny to see everyone try to figure out who everyone else is. Perhaps at the end of the night Draco Malfoy will've found himself snogging a Hufflepuff!
All right, I told her.

Oh, well done, Mandy. Aren't you clever, forgetting the password to your old journal like that. A true Ravenclaw.
In any case, I'm here now. Hi, everyone. And I'm not going to go on about what everyone's expecting me to, because enough's been said. And, honestly, because I don't want to. I don't want to think about it. I don't.
What I do want to think about is Quidditch. I know I've never been a great athlete, but I reckon Chasing looks really fun. Does anyone when are tryouts coming up? Cho, Professor Flitwick, have you scheduled a date yet?
